Hats Off to Rex Ryan

Hats off to Bills head coach Rex Ryan.  He’s pulled it off.  The resurgent Bills are on the move again.  Buffalo is a genuine playoff contender once again.  He has bested 2 formidable opponents – Arizona and New England.  The masterful poker player has outsmarted them once more.  HERE’S TO COACH RYAN, ROB, AND THE WHOLE TEAM.  THE JETS LOSS IS BUFFALO’S GAIN.

Congrats are in order for Terry and Kim Pegula.  They have turned the corner with their Buffalo sports franchises.  Both the Sabres and Bills are on the move.  By staying the course with Rex Ryan, we have a legitimate playoff contender for the first time in 16 years.  Excitement and enthusiasm abound.  THANK YOU, TERRY AND KIM, FOR GIVING US RENEWED REASON FOR HOPE.  YOU ARE THE FIRST FAMILY OF WESTERN NEW YORK SPORTS.

Bills linebacker Zach Brown has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week.  The honor follows his standout game against New England, in which he had 18 tackles, 2 quarterback hits, a sack, and 2 forced fumbles.  His year-to-date 52 tackles are the highest in the league.  CONGRATS TO ZACH ON HIS SPECTACULAR SEASON.  HIS HARD WORK AND DEDICATION HAVE WON THE RECOGNITION HE DESERVES.

New Era hopes the football stadium will become known as The Cap.  The Buffalo based manufacturer of sports hats recently was awarded naming rights for the Orchard Park facility.  CEO Chris Koch, a hometown mogul, floated the idea to the media.  NEW ERA HAS DONE THE RIGHT THING BY PURCHASING THE NAMING RIGHTS.  HERE’S HOPING THAT NEW ERA FIELD WILL CATCH ON AS THE CAP.  LOCAL NAME, LOCAL PRIDE.  TOGETHER WE ARE 1BUFFALO.

Marcell Dareus will see action against the Rams.  The Buffalo defensive tackle rejoins the lineup after his 4 week suspension.  Coach Rex Ryan expects to play him on a rotational basis.  LET’S HOPE DAREUS HAS LEARNED HIS LESSON AND CONTRIBUTES TO THE RESURGENT DEFENSE.  WITH THE BILLS BACK IN PLAYOFF CONTENTION THERE CAN BE NO MORE LAPSES.

The resurgent Bills shutout the Patriots 16 – 0.  It was New England’s first shutout at Gillette Field.  The Bills dominated all afternoon.  Tyrod Taylor threw a touchdown pass to LeSean McCoy.  Dan Carpenter’s 3 field goals capped Buffalo’s scoring.  The Patriots under rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett struggled, converting only 1 of 12 third downs.  CONGRATS TO REX RYAN ON THE UPSET VICTORY.  HIS ENERGIZED SQUAD NOW PREPARES TO TAKE ON THE RAMS NEXT  SUNDAY IN LOS ANGELES.

The Bills meet the Patriots today at Gillette Field.  Coming off the upset of Arizona, Buffalo is fired up to take on New England.  The offense is showing renewed signs of life under coordinator Anthony Lynn. The big question is who will start at quarterback for the Patriots – Jacoby Brissett, Jimmy Garoppolo, or Julian Edelman.  Expect spirited action as the Bills look to go 500.  THE GREAT DIVISION RIVALRY CONTINUES AS BOTH TEAMS SEEK SUPREMACY IN THE AFC EAST.

Wide receiver Sammy Watkins has been moved to injured reserve.  It is hardly surprising, given his recurring pain following surgery for a foot injured.  Coach Rex Ryan is fearful it may be a long term problem.  Justin Hunter has been signed to fill the roster gap.  The third year man is a former second round draft pick.  He was recently released by Miami.  RYAN DID THE RIGHT THING IN RESTING WATKINS.  WITH PROPER TREATMENT HE SHOULD BE BACK IN UNIFORM AND ANCHORING THE OFFENSE.

Sammy Watkins may travel with the team to New England.  The Bills wide receiver has sat out practice both this week and last.  He is recovering from foot surgery following an injury incurred in the Bengals game last year.  Coach Rex Ryan will play it by ear and see how Watkins feels on Sunday.  THERE IS NO POINT IN HASTENING WATKIN’S RETURN TO ACTION.  RYAN CAN NOT RISK FURTHER INJURY TO HIS STAR WIDE RECEIVER WHO IS THE FUTURE OF THE OFFENSE.

Michael Ola has been signed by the Bills.  The offensive tackle most recently was with the Giants practice squad.  The 6 – 5, 312 pound Ola has played with Chicago and Detroit.  To make room for Ola Buffalo released K Jordan Gay.  THE BILLS ARE LOOKING FOR DEPTH AT TACKLE AMID CORDY GLENN’S INJURY AND SEANTREL HENDERSON’S SUSPENSION.  IT IS A SMART MOVE TO BOLSTER THE OFFENSIVE LINE.
